The Castle
CASTELLO DELLA VOLTA
The “Castello della Volta”, once abode of the Marquise of Barolo Juliette Colbert Falletti today property of Marchesi di Barolo, is for our family a precious link to the history that precedes us.
Visiting Barolo you can find two Castles: the lower one, now home to the Wine Museum, and the Castle of “La Volta”, located above the town, from which you can enjoy a stunning view of the Langhe.
The first mentions of the Castle of “La Volta”, date back to 1200. It became the dwelling of the Falletti family, the local lords, of whom the last descendant was Carlo Tancredi, married to the same Juliette Colbert who, right here in our cellars, gave birth to Barolo wine, elevating it to "the King of wines, the Wine of kings."
Purchased in 1950 by the Marchesi di Barolo, in 2016 saw the start of consolidation and restoration works aimed at bring back its grandeur.
